16 Carat Diamond - Why Bother?

There's a great deal of news going around about a 16 carat diamond aquired by The Jewelry Exchange. . . "The Jewelry Exchange, one of the nation's leading direct diamond importers, announced today that they have acquired a very rare 16-carat diamond, and are making it available for purchase as a loose stone or within a custom-designed pendant. The diamond is 16.27 carats, round in shape, brilliant, bright and beautiful. For a limited time, this impressive gem is being offered at slightly under $95,000"

Diamonds are not really as rare as you might think. . . they are used in drill bits, and other industrial equipment of all sorts. . . The scarcity is little more than a lie to keep people drudging through the mundane in life. This, along with the idea that things like food, clothing, and shelter are scarce keep people working in jobs that they hate. The idea that things like super expensive diamonds are desirable keeps people locked into the over-arching idea that they need continue to be a part of a broken system in order to earn things like this. . . There are enough diamonds, and there IS enough food, and there IS enough water, and there IS enough shelter. . . we simply have to stop drudging through life distracted from the hoarders who want us to not notice that we don't need to work for them, THEY need US to work for them.

A lot of people are wondering how large a 16 carat diamond is.

Well, this site http://wire-sculpture.com/convert.php says that 2 carats is about .323 inches, so 16 is probably about 2.584 inches.
